The Michigan Community Service Commission selected ArtBreak Studio to receive the 2019 Governor’s Service Award for Outstanding Volunteer Program of the year! We all enjoyed the awards ceremony and receiving the honor plaque from Governor Gretchen Whitmer on September 5, 2019. It was, indeed, a very special evening.
Becki Spangler, founder of ArtBreak Studio, along with her 24 exceptional artist and assistant volunteers, have made this program possible with their investment of over 1,500 volunteer hours at the Delonis Center. Through their program, they have been able to give the homeless a new voice through art expression, and have added a new dimension of emotional care at the Shelter. They have transformed lives in the process.
We cherish our ArtBreak Studio experience and the beauty we enjoyed from our wonderful clients. We feel honored to help them feel, explore, and create as they find their own ways to tell their stories.
